Alleged high-ranking Latin Kings gang member indicted this week.

The Department of Homeland Security announced this week that an illegal alien living in Chicago who was allegedly a “high-ranking” member of the Latin Kings gang tried to pay someone to assassinate a Border Patrol chief who oversees the agency’s El Centro sector in Southern California.

The suspect’s indictment for soliciting the murder of U.S. Border Patrol field boss Gregory Bovino did not mention his Latin Kings affiliation, causing attorneys and family members of the illegal to accuse DHS of creating a “false” narrative.

In an article by the Chicago Tribune, 37-year-old Juan Espinoza Martinez was described as a “Chicago man” who was “arrested last week and charged with one count of solicitation of murder for hire, which carries up to 10 years in prison.”

On Tuesday, a federal grand jury charged Martinez with the same crime but the indictment omitted the accusation that he was a Latin Kings gang member who allegedly tried using gang resources to kill Bovino.

DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin blasted the outlet, writing on 𝕏, “The Chicago Tribune’s ‘Chicago man’ is a criminal illegal alien from Mexico and member of the Latin Kings gang who tried to pay for the murder of Chief Greg Bovino. Leave it to the media to carry water for this violent criminal.”

Meanwhile, Martinez’s lawyers maintained he has no gang affiliation whatsoever and complained that he was arrested while working at a construction site to support his three children.
